WebCatalog is a startup that develops cross-platform software for desktop and mobile devices with a portfolio of products spanning across macOS, Windows, Linux, Android, iOS and iPadOS.

Our team currently consists of members across multiple timezones working on 6 different products, making them better, every day. These are:

  • WebCatalog - the world leading site-specific browser solution.

  • Singlebox - an all-in-one messenger - the top 15 social networking app on Mac App Store.

  • Clovery - a tool to manage Google services - the top 100 productivity app on Mac App Store.

  • Translatium - a cross-platform translation app - top translation app on Mac App Store and Microsoft Store.

  • Skywhale - a menu bar browser.

  • Switchbar - a browser & email client picker.

WebCatalog was initiated in 2014 by Quang Lam, with the company formally incorporated in August 2020. Since its inception, we have served hundreds of thousands of users around the world.

The company is incorporated in 🇬🇧 London, United Kingdom with main engineering office in 🇻🇳 Ho Chi Minh City (Saigon), Vietnam. We welcome members either in Vietnam or anywhere in the world.

Responsibilities

As integral part of our engineering team, you will deliver complex solutions and new features which bring real value to our users. As a senior member of the engineering team, you will make architectural decisions and help train other members.

As a remote-first company, you will mostly manage yourself but making sure we follow a defined strategy and timelines together with the rest of the team.

  • Making architectural decisions and writing design docs.

  • Delivering high quality solution (code) for assigned tasks.

  • Breaking the complex problems into smaller, manageable tasks.

  • Managing your workflow and inform about your progress.

Technologies: Typescript, React, Electron, Firebase, Gatsby.

Qualifications

We are looking for well-rounded engineers capable and willing to handle wide variety of tasks and work with different technologies and systems.

  1. Bachelor's degree in Computer Science (or equivalent).

  2. Minimum of 2 years of experience working as Software Engineer (or equivalent).

  3. English language - professional working proficiency.

  4. Detailed technical qualifications.

  • Must have (advanced level or more)

    • Modern Javascript (e.g. TypeScript, ES6/7)

    • React + Redux

    • Node.js

    • Git

  • Good to have (intermediate level or more)

    • Object-oriented design

    • Electron.js

    • Firebase (e.g. Firestore, Cloud Functions)

  • Nice to have (basic level or more - not necessary for application)

    • Gatsby

    • Python

    • Cloud platforms (e.g. AWS, Google Cloud, Azure)

    • Networking (DNS, IP, HTTPS, routing, etc.)

Engineering Hiring Process

  • Resume Screening: After receiving your resume (and preferably ****with your projects/portfolios), we will review it as soon as possible. If you’re a good match for the role, we’ll get in touch with you for the next step.

  • Technical Interview: Selected candidates will be invited to showcase your projects / portfolio in a short call. Preferably, you have the projects on GitHub for us to review before the call. If we do not have the chance to go through your portfolio, we might opt to send you a short take-home assignment. We’ll do a call with you after to go through your code and possibly refactor it together.

  • Cultural & Behavioral Interview: Next, the candidate will be invited to do one short call with the team to hang out with everyone and learn more about the company’s products and culture.

  • Successful candidates will subsequently be made an offer.
